Did you know that by recycling just a single glass bottle that enough energy is produced to light a 100 watt bulb for 4 hours? It really is quite remarkable how if we just become a little less of a throw-away society that we can actually start to live within our means.
I found the bottle fact interesting because I found a unique bottle today, one of the most unique items I've ever discovered. I found a fully intact (amazing that it has survived all these years) Coca Cola bottle manufactured in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1948. I love it!
I tried to live life to the absolute fullest this weekend, and think I succeed. Today, I started by having a breakfast at Denny's. It's been years since I ate at Denny's, but their new French toast dishes lured me in. I got the French toast with bananas, nuts and honey, no eggs, since I can't have them, and bacon. Oh my goodness, that French toast was divine. The honey was so perfect on it.
From there, I drove by the hospital where I will be having my surgery, so there will be no surprises come early Friday morning when I have to be there. It's pretty easy to find and has tons of parking.
Then, it was off to Harper's Ferry. I had a good time hiking up to Jefferson Rock and the cemetery. Then I took some time to stop in at some of the shops. I found rootbeer jelly in one of them! Can you believe that?! Definitely a treat! I also picked up a book They Fought Like Demons in the bookshop. It's a book about women who dressed as men and served in the Civil War. More good reading material for my recovery period.
I spent some time walking along the river and then hiked the 2.2 miles out to the Murphy farm. This was a hike I had never taken before. I was rewarded with an amazing view of the river and the sight of an eagle flying across the river.
Then, it was off to Shepherdstown, supposedly to eat the Blue Moon Café, but they were closed along with almost every other restaurant. Luckily, Domestic (http://wvdomestic.com/) was open. They have quite good and unique food, though there was no way I was trying the special - rabbit ragout.
All-in-all a very good day. I counted 43 Kia's and number 22 looked just like yours, parked over there in Harper's Ferry.
Some moments, the pain raged hard, but at other times, I seemed able to out-pace it and simply enjoy my day here on Earth.
I had some good texts back and forth with you, which always make me happy, and you and I are once again friends on Facebook, so that was a happy sign indeed. I wish you were here with me tonight or that I had seen you one day this weekend before surgery, but I understand that you are worried about your test and needing to study. Here's hoping you do well on it, that you and I reconcile and that you marry me.
Forever yours,
MNP
