I was reading from one of my books today and learned about the only white, adult survivor of the Alamo, Susanna Dickinson. The Alamo hold particular interest to me, as I was born in San Antonio; however, we actually lived in Del Rio, and we left the whole west Texas area when I was very young. Anyway, I learned that following her survival, that the government turned down her claim for money and during a brief period, she was living in a brothel. Amazing how we can treat each other at times.
Today, I hiked for a bit at Gettysburg. I didn't hike anywhere near the amount of miles that I did yesterday. I am still feeling the affects of that long hike, but it has felt mostly wonderful to be out in warmer weather, seeing the sites, hearing the frogs and birds and mostly just living. I wish you have been with me.
I should have all of my medical tests for surgery out of the way this week. Before I know it the surgery will be here and then comes the rigors of recovery.
I counted 53 Kia's today, as I went to and from Gettysburg.
