This fact ought to scare us all. 80% of the biomass of fish in the worlds oceans have been lost in the last 100 years. We are not going along good to live in balance. We take too much, overproduce ourselves and think little of the consequences. It's a bleak outlook for humanity I am afraid.
I haven't written to you here in a while, but you have never been far from my thoughts.
I have been continuing my transformation and that does mean keeping more and more busy. I have continued my walks, which have also know been upgraded to included running. Not every time, but at least some of the time.
I am also very nearly complete with the first draft of a short story. Then the really heard work will begin of paring it down. It has been so very long since I actually completed a writing longer than a super short or a poem. I am hoping this one will end up good.
I also have been visiting places like Flag Ponds and Harper's Ferry, Berkley Springs and Sharpsburg. Taking hikes there, exploring places I hadn't know existed before and making new discoveries always encourages me.
I am very nearly back to where I was with my equine massage course prior to surgery. That means soon, I will be doing my first video taping of massage techniques. I really have come a long ways with it in the past month. I can see how I am refining the techniques to fit me and to fit the situation with a particular horse. I still have to take breaks after doing 2 massages, but I am certainly getting there. That's more cause for excitement!
I found out that my little sister will have the same neck surgery I had. Hers was caught early enough to only require 1 level, but still is scary for her I'll bet. I am very glad I went through it, so I could suggest she talk to her doctor about it when she had some similar issues.
You and I are going to the distillery tour we had talked about! I can't wait to go with you. We've been having decent text conversations, but those just are never enough for me I am afraid. Even though I have come to accept this reality, I will still never embrace it. This will only be the 3rd time I have seen you since last November.
So have I been counting Kia's? You bet: 7/2: 3, 7/3: 1, 7/4: 60, 7/5: 17, 7/6: 54, 7/7/: 6, 7/8: 27, 7/9: 25, 7/10: 10, 7/11: 41 (and number 4 was you!) and today: 52.
Guess what else I saw? It was at Harper's Ferry on one of my hikes. On a wooden foot bridge someone had written in chalk: Will you marry me?
Love you,
MNP
